CirKids is about the circus of storytelling, imagination, and performance. We blend traditional circus arts with athletics, dance and theatre in a safe, collaborative, and very fun program.
CirKids was launched 1985 after an inspired Vancouver parent and her daughter saw the Australian Fruit Fly Circus at the Vancouver Children’s Festival. For years CirKids operated out of a small south Vancouver gym. Over 2000 children attended the program in that period, including our Artistic Director, Jay Nunns and senior coach, Brian Robertson.
In 2003 CirKids moved to the Garden Auditorium at the PNE site where we have flourished under the high ceilings. The building is ideal for training and performing and we especially like that Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder were here before us.
Youth programming and performance remain the central focus of the CirKids School of Circus Arts but the new space has allowed for the introduction of specialty teen and adult classes.
CirKids is a non-profit, parent-run organization and remains true to its original values of collaboration and inclusiveness. We hold a special place in the performing arts community of Vancouver and we welcome you to join us.
